The Australia-Korea Business Council hosted the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (K‑SURE) Financing Seminar in Sydney on Tuesday, 17 March and in Perth on Wednesday, 18 March. The seminars were co‑hosted with AKBC Member ANZ Bank, with the Perth session also supported by DLA Piper.
K‑SURE is the export credit agency of the Government of the Republic of Korea and plays a pivotal role in facilitating Korean trade, investment and project finance globally. The seminar provided Australian businesses with direct access to senior K‑SURE leadership and in‑depth insights into financing and risk mitigation solutions supporting Korea–Australia commercial activity.
Participants heard from K‑SURE Deputy President Mr. Jaeyong Jung and Mr. Woo Jae Byeon, Director of the Project Coordination Department, who shared practical perspectives on how K‑SURE supports Australian companies, large‑scale projects and cross‑border transactions.
The sessions also highlighted recent enhancements to K‑SURE support offerings, including expanded insurance options for loans to Australian companies with future potential to import from Korea. These updates are particularly relevant for businesses operating across the Korea–Australia trade and investment corridor, offering new pathways to manage financial risk and unlock growth opportunities.
The seminars were well received by senior executives, financial institutions and project developers seeking to deepen their understanding of Korean export credit mechanisms and financing structures.
AKBC was represented at the Sydney seminar by Chief Executive Officer Liz Griffin and Head of Industry Groups Jenny Kang. The Perth seminar was represented by Head of WA Memberships and Business Development Paul Kelly.
This was an AKBC member‑only event. Organisations interested in accessing future member‑only briefings and high‑level Korea‑focused events are encouraged to enquire about membership via https://www.akbc.com.au/become-member.
