On Wednesday, 30 April, we co-hosted the Connecting Campuses: Australia-Korea Transnational Education (TNE) webinar with the Australian Embassy in Korea! Thank you to everyone who attended our webinar; your participation made this a vibrant discussion on unlocking collaborative opportunities in global education.
Key insights from the session:
🔹 Australia has strong opportunities to expand transnational education (TNE) in Korea, given Korea’s high demand for quality education, and supportive government policies.
🔹 Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone (BJFEZ) highlights the region’s strategic appeal for foreign education institutions, including world-class infrastructure, global R&D presence, and generous subsidies.
🔹 Success for foreign universities in Korea depends on embracing globalisation, building strong relationships with local governments, home campuses, and students, and exercising patience, especially in navigating cultural engagement and negotiations with Korean entities.
We would like to extend our special thanks to H.E. Jeff Robinson, the Ambassador at the Australian Embassy in Korea, Busan-Jinhae Free Economic Zone Authority, George Mason University Korea and Jeonbuk National University for sharing your insights.
To our attendees – your commitment to cross-border education is shaping the future of Australia-Korea academic ties. Let’s keep building bridges!
