New Visas for K-culture fans

South Korea to launch new visas for South Korean culture enthusiasts! To attract 30 million tourists and $3B in tourism revenue by 2027, Two new visas will be implemented, in conjunction with the Visit Korea initiative, to encourage young adults to become more familiar with Korean culture.

1.    The Hallyu visa allows foreigners to register at local performing arts academies and stay for up to 2 years. As the dedication of K-pop and K-drama fans is pivotal to South Korea’s economy, the visa seeks to encourage education or training programs in these fields, whilst enabling individuals to fully experience Korean culture. According to a recent assessment by the Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, K-pop is the most popular reason for travellers to travel to Korea. The visa hopes to encourage education or training programs in these areas, whilst allowing individuals to be immersed in Korean culture.

2.    The digital nomad visa is eligible to remote workers earning at least AUD$96,556 per year to stay for up to 2 years. The Korean government is conducting a trial period for this visa to encourage foreigners to stay in Korea and strengthen their local economy.
