State of the nation: South Korea

The AKBC in collaboration with Asialink Business and Corrs Chambers Westgarth are delighted to invite you to attend:

State of the Nation: South Korea
Korean presidential election: implications and opportunities for Australia

After one of the most tumultuous periods in the Republic of Korea’s recent history, South Koreans have voted for change in the recent presidential election with Moon Jae-in of the liberal Democratic Party of Korea winning by a large margin and bringing an end to almost a decade of conservative rule.

Without the benefit of the traditional two-month transition period, the new President was sworn in immediately and faces enormous challenges of cleaning up corrupt ties between politics and big business, securing peace with his increasingly provocative northern neighbour and kick-starting the economy (4th largest in Asia and 11th largest in the world).

The expert panellists will share their insights on the following:

  • What is the political, security and economic outlook for Korea under President Moon?
  • What are the potential implications for Australia and how should we respond?
  • What are the opportunities for Australian business and how can we capitalise on them?

Cost: $33 for AKBC members
$55 for non members
