2017 and 2018 Future Leader Participants are invited to participate in a casual dinner in Busan to kick off the formal program. Meet in lobby of Westin Chosun Hotel at 6.00PM.

8.00AM to 10.00AM Future Leaders Program (For selected Future Leaders Participants Only), Violet Room, Level 2, Westin Chosun Hotel

The second Future Leaders Program will be held from 8.00AM to 10.00AM at the Westin Chosun Hotel. Following the Future Leaders Roundtable, Future Leaders will take a taxi to meet the rest of the delegation at the UN Memorial Cemetery.

9.00AM – 5.00PM Site visit to Industry (UN Memorial Cemetery Visit, Renault Samsung Motors Plant & Busan New Port)

AKBC delegates are invited to participate in a site visit to the UN Memorial Cemetery, Renault Samsung Motors Plant and Busan New Port. This visit will provide participants with an opportunity to learn more about Australia’s participation in the Korean War, and experience Busan’s leading industries including manufacturing and logistics first hand. Busan is Korea’s second largest city, and its close proximity to other hub cities across Northeast Asia positions it well as a leading business and logistic hubs.  Busan is home to the world’s fifth largest container port and the largest transhipment port in north-east Asia. Busan has a strength in traditional core industries including shipbuilding and manufacturing and logistics, and in recent years has grown into new and innovate sectors including film and image, tourism and events as well as financial services (especially marine finance).

Please note that lunch is included and the bus will depart from and return to the Westin Chosun Hotel. Australian delegates must provide the AKBC with their passport details if they wish to participate in the site visit (for the New Port).

6.00PM – 9.00PM  Welcome Dinner at APEC NuriMaru House

APEC Nuri Maru House, meaning “world summit APEC house” was purpose-built for the 2005 APEC Leaders’ Meeting.  The Welcome Dinner will be held in this venue on Monday 29 October. The APEC NuriMaru House is located on Dongbaek Island and is 10 minutes (by foot) from the Westin Chosun Hotel.

7.30AM – 9.00AM Australian Delegation Breakfast (Orchid Room)

AKBC delegates are invited to attend the Australian Delegation Breakfast, with guest speaker Australian Ambassador to the Republic of Korea H.E. Mr James Choi. Mr Choi will provide an update on the Australia-Korea relationship and share his thoughts on areas of future economic cooperation and collaboration as well as the geopolitical landscape of North Asia and what this means for Australia.
